Thanks to Dr. Steve Booysen, who serves on Aardklop’s and Rainbow’s Board, Rainbows manned a stand at 2014 Aardklop Kunstefees. We went to work and for the five days, from morning till night, we spoke to all and sundry about Rainbows and the work we do. Before we pitched at this prestigious event, one of our main sponsors, Darryl Banister (DNA Printing & Branding) printed three beautiful banners for our stand and an elite list of artists (more about this later) donated CD’s. We bought coffee mugs (and Darryl again sponsored the printing) to sell as well.

The coffee mugs sold like hot cakes once the Rainbows team learned that most of the exhibitors are desperate for coffee. We made them all a special offer…. BUY A MUG AND GET BOTTOMLESS COFFEE AND TEA FOR THE DURATION OF THE FESTIVAL … while introducing Rainbows to the world, we also managed to raise much needed funds to put our words in to actions.

Rainbows’ CEO, Dr Willie Strydom, took on the gruelling Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge on for a fourth time, proudly cycling for team Rainbows. He was joined by big hearted people, some of which have been proud Rainbows Riders for the past three years, some their second time and some for the first time! For a few this was also their first Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge and as far as we know, each and every one completed the race.

A huge thanks to …

Training 2014

In October, the Nederderduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika, Pretoria East, played host to our training session. No less than 21 new Rainbows Facilitators were trained, who will set up four brand new Rainbows sites early in 2015. The sites will be situated at Diepsloot, Hammanskraal, Mamelodi and Pretoria East. We wish them all the best and keep them in our thoughts, knowing that giving up their time to help heal and restore hope for grieving children will bring them much joy and satisfaction.

And while we are on the subject of giving… A VERY BIG THANK YOU to our donors whose monthly contributions make it possible for us to provide training and program material at affordable rates. We’ve come to realise that where the need is the greatest, money to pay for help is in short supply. With the donations from warm hearted donors we are able to subsidise part of the site setup costs, making it easier for poor communities to guide youth through the storms of life.

If you want to become part of our wonderful donor family, kindly go to the share your purse page.
